Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how TechDrift handles information when you use the TechDrift website, web app, or mobile application.
Launch note: Before public launch, the operator should replace the service contact placeholder below with a monitored legal or privacy address and confirm this policy against the deployed hosting, analytics, authentication, and notification services.
Information TechDrift currently receives
- Browser-local preferences: the web app stores saved Sigs, reading history, ignored articles, and theme preferences in your browser’s local storage. This data is not sent to TechDrift by the current web app and does not sync with Android.
- App settings: the current Android app stores its configured API endpoint and preferences on the device.
- Server logs: the service may receive ordinary HTTP request information, such as an IP address, timestamp, requested path, user agent, and response status, for security, reliability, and operations.
- Source content: TechDrift collects and displays public technology stories and evidence from third-party sources. It may retain source URLs, titles, excerpts, author references, timestamps, and source metadata.
How information is used
TechDrift uses information to operate the service, retrieve and rank source material, display evidence, diagnose errors, protect the service, and improve reliability. TechDrift does not currently require an account or use the web app to build a cross-device profile.
Third-party sources and links
TechDrift links to third-party websites and may display excerpts or metadata from them. Those services have their own privacy policies and terms. TechDrift is not responsible for their practices. Source-specific collection, retention, attribution, and display restrictions remain applicable.
Sharing
TechDrift does not currently sell personal information. Information may be disclosed to infrastructure or service providers that help operate the service, when needed to comply with law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of TechDrift and its users. Any future analytics, advertising, authentication, email, or AI-processing service should be added here before it is enabled.
Retention and deletion
Browser-local data can be removed by clearing the site’s storage or using the browser’s site-data controls. Server and source data may be retained as needed for operations, security, reproducibility, and source-history purposes. If you need to request deletion of information associated with you, contact the operator at [LEGAL CONTACT EMAIL — replace before launch].
U.S. privacy rights
Depending on where you live and whether applicable thresholds are met, state privacy laws may provide rights to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain sharing. Requests should be sent to the contact above. TechDrift will verify requests as reasonably necessary to protect user information.
Children
TechDrift is not directed to children under 13, and TechDrift does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact the operator so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
Security
TechDrift uses reasonable measures appropriate to the service and the information it handles. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the service or its data practices change. The updated date above will change when revisions are posted.
